BELT:
Generally, treadmill belt widths range from 13” to 22”. The optimum
belt width is 18” and it gives users adequate walking and running
space, without making the treadmill too wide to fit though
doorways. For those who require additional security, try to
purchase a treadmill with a 20” wide belt. The user's height will
determine the length of the belt that the user requires. When you
are on the treadmill, you should be able to reach and
activate the buttons on the
monitor without
hitting
the motor housing.
The general rule of thumb is as follows:
Under 5' 7" recommend minimum 52 “ length
5' 7"’ to 6’.4” recommend minimum 55 “ length
6.5 to 6’11” recommend minimum 58” length
Orthopedic
belts are a good idea for those requiring extra cushioning. If you
are considering this type of belt, make sure that the rollers are at
least 2.4”. Do not buy orthopedic belts
on smaller diameter rollers due to the fact that they will cause
excessive heat on the belt and wear on the bearing of within the
rollers. Do not get carried away with how many plys a belt has, it
is more important to get a quality belt than two or four plys.
